At MDV and after the transition of my department to Mannesmann Demag I was employed in an automation department as a system engineer.
My activities:
Execution of internal projects for development of standard tools for the mannesmann maras system (automation suite for steel and aluminium plants) and customer specific applications (system analysis and design, technical discussion with the customer, activity planning and controlling, coordination of fellow workers, realization of project software
Design and implementation of applications with a graphical user interface
Design, implementation and administration of Oracle databases and Oracle based applications
Design and implementation of libraries
Installation and administration of Unix (Sun and Digital Unix), Windows NT and Oracle
Responsibility for the following attributes of the mannesmann maras standard tools development in my department:
Creation and safeguarding of portability
Version and configuration management of the source code
User manuals (German and English)
Selection of hardware and software
User help desk and customer training
Construction of an internal information system based on HTML
